Guests are sure to enjoy a memorable vacation in this fully furnished, 5 bedroom/2.5 bath house.  This cool house that was built in 1919 has all the modern features but has kept the hundred year old charm. Although this house has been through extensive renovation for your comfort, many of the elements from 100 years ago remain...the crystal doorknobs, the ceiling fans, beautiful rare wood floors, the original coal shoot, shiplap, the wavy glass in the windows. It's hard to believe that this house has withstood 100 years! The main/master bedroom has a king-sized bed, while the 3 rooms upstairs are furnished with a queen-sized beds and the 4th room upstairs with a full bed., comfortable for sleeping 10 people.  There is also plenty of floor space in the event that you bring an air mattress or two. The quaint living room is fully furnished.  The kitchen is perfect for dining as it is fully equipped with oven, and fridge. There is also a full laundry room for you to access. Depending on the season, there may be fresh vegetables from the 2000 s.f garden in the back yard and a seasonal above ground 12x24x51inch pool to cool off you want to relax and just stay in, there are hundreds of dvds to choose from and if you want to venture out to see downtown Waxahachie and it’s historic district full of antique shops, historical courthouse and great restaurants it’s all 15 minutes away. It’s just 40 minutes to downtown Dallas if you have business or want to enjoy all that the big D offers. It’s a short one hour drive to Waco, now famous for the Chip and Joanne show, FIXER UPPER, their location the silos and their new restaurant. Homestead Heritage is a great day trip just north of waco and is a working anabaptist farm of over 500 acres, they have shops, a restaurant to die for and so much more,! Look it up, it’s worth the trip. This home isn’t really set up for small children as there is no fence and the pool isn’t child friendly as it’s above ground and requires a ladder to get in and out. We hope this is a retreat for those interested to unplug after the day and enjoy the cows and the quiet time.

A complete kitchen stocked with all the normal appliances, coffee pot, pots/pans, dishes and glasses, cooking utensils, and a gas grill on the back patio means all you need to bring is groceries. And as with any place in the country there is a great variety of wildlife to be seen. There are deer, armadillos, wild turkey, the occasional snake, and all kinds of birds...hawks and even bald eagles have stopped by. Note: Boats can be easily left just inside the front gate as there are so many trees, a couple dips, and turning around with a boat is difficult except at the pasture. Canoes: Life jackets are provided and must be used at all times. Children must be accompanied by an adult when in the canoes.

Both second level bedroom have queen sized beds for extra guest we have daybeds/trundles and both have access to the outdoor balcony. The bedroom closest to the bathroom has direct access to the bathroom . The bathroom upstairs is designed to accommodate multiple users with its 'Jack and Jill' layout allowing separate and private use of the tub, lavatory, and loo. The balcony faces west towards Lake Aquilla allowing spectacular views of the setting sun, a perfect place to listen to the wildlife at night. The Foosball table is located on the balcony so it's also a great gathering place. We often get asked if we have a fire pit, the answer is YES. I call it a Texas sized fire pit, a great place for story telling and marsh mellow fixing (please keep the gooie stuff outdoors). We also are asked if the house next to the cabin is for other renters. No, it is an added space for those who are looking for additional space. If you have a large group, this is an additional RENTAL space please inquire. There are lots of opportunities for enjoying nature and native wildlife. You will see animal tracks and an occasional arrow head. You might hear cow mooing at a distance, they belong to the neighbors and make for a wonderful photo, proof you were indeed away from city life. We do have a canoe and a kayak and life jackets for those that enjoy lake adventures. The lake has opportunities for boating, fishing, and for hiking.

This newly renovated home is just a couple of my from the Waco City line, and less than a minute from I 35. It offers 4 large bedrooms, a nice kitchen with top of the line new appliances! The home will also be getting brand new vinyl windows very soon! The living room offers a sofa that will convert into a twin bed, and has a 58 inch Flat Screen too! The front bedroom has a 55 inch TV. There will be DVD's there for the entire families entertainment, and has Spectrum high speed internet as well! If you want to visit the SILOS while you stay, you will be less than 10 away! The Texas Ranger Museum is about the same distance!

Songbird Haven, our cozy 2 BR/1 BA country cottage, is 10 miles from the Silos, Magnolia and Baylor and just 3 miles from Homestead Craft Village and the Ploughshare Institute. If you’re traveling alone, with a spouse or friend, or in a group up to four, our super clean cottage provides a comfy and peaceful space to unwind after a busy day. The Shower It's probably bigger than the one you have at home and it never runs out of hot water. If you need "wake-up-therapy," you'll love it. No TV We do have a projector that uses a screen that is as wide as the window (8') that you have access to with an HDMI port. Fire Stick, Apple+ ROKU . . . but no TV. The Gate You'll be on our land in rural Waco. There's a gate to get in that is almost never closed. If we do feel the need to close it (never have), we'll make sure you have its code. Most of our neighbors are part of Homestead Heritage. Once you get to know them, you'll see they are a pretty wonderful group. Attractions You will be close to Magnolia and Baylor (about 13 minutes) and everything else downtown Waco has to offer. For a slower pace, you're about 2 minutes away from Homestead Heritage and their number-one-rated restaurant, Cafe Homestead. They now serve breakfast Monday through Saturday. Don't just eat though. There is a lot to see and do so allow some time to walk around. Their newest shop is the Basket shop where you can see beautiful baskets or sign up to make one yourself.
